Intel — мы неизменно встречаем названия двух акулок помельче, но не менее
хищных.
AMD — большая головная боль Intel, ее вечный антагонист и конкурент.
Еще недавно процессоры этой фирмы занимали не более 20 % рынка — однако в
1999 году, после выхода процессора Athlon (или К6), AMD стремительно стала
«набирать очки» в глазах пользователя и сегодня конкурирует с Intel на
равных.
Изюминка AMD — не только более низкая цена (на 10-20 % ниже, чем у
сравнимого по скорости Pentium). Именно в процессорах AMD была впервые
реализована уникальная система инструкций для поддержки обработки
мультимедиа-данных и трехмерной графики 3DNow!, которая, в отличие от Intel
технологии SSI, охотно поддерживается ныне большинством производителей игр.
Именно процессоры AMD выбирают сегодня самые отчаянные
экспериментаторы. Осторожные консерваторы, как правило, делают выбор в
пользу проверенной временем марки Intel.
Чей фирмы процессор выбрать спросите вы? Каждый пользователь решает для
себя сам, руководствуясь лишь собственными вкусами и пристрастиями. Как
правило, новички останавливают свой выбор на проверенных процессорах от
Intel, в то время как опытные любители экспериментов все чаще выбирают AMD.
Характеристики процессоров.
Ну и на последок немного данных о работе процессоров разных производителей.
Сокращения:
Ггц - частота процессора в гигагерцах. L2 – КЕШ память 2 уровня. Напр. -
напряжение питания процессора. Мкм - техпроцесс, по которому производиться
процессор. S - площадь ядра процессора. SMP - поддержка
мультипроцессорности. T° - максимальная температура ядра. Тр - количество
транзисторов в миллионах. SSE - поддержка процессором набора инструкций
SSE. PGA - способ упаковки процессора.
